Community Engagement Representative

Asian American Donor Program (AADP) is seeking a Community Engagement Representative to work in the Chinese community.

AADP is a community-based organization, working within ethnically diverse communities throughout Northern California.  AADP, an official recruitment partner with Be The Match Registry, is dedicated to the recruitment of potential stem cell donors for patients with leukemia and other life-threatening blood diseases. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Organize outreach and education efforts              

-conduct public presentations

-network with other community organizations

–Foster current relationships and build upon them

–collaborate with others in the community and Be The Match network

-organize information sessions with new volunteers, patient families & community groups

-create all outreach materials (flyers, posters, other handouts)

-distribute educational information at scheduled events

-administer phone outreach

  • Recruit potential stem cell donors

-plan, organize and implement recruitment drives

        Places of worship

        Corporations

        Colleges

        High Schools

-conduct all administrative functions associated with events (correspondence, data entry, follow-up)

– help post to all social media platforms

  • Assist in volunteer projects and supervision

-volunteer recruitment, training, education, and recognition

  • Special projects

-assist with fundraising projects, Laugh For Lives, Golf Tournament

-organize one fundraiser/networking per quarter

Skills Needed:

  • Multi-cultural competency and familiarity with the Asian American community
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking abilities
  • Computer skills

-PageMaker, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, FileMaker Pro

  • Superior writing skills preferred
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin (Native speaker, reading and writing)
  • Flexible with work hours (evening work is required for community meetings, and recruitment drives are often scheduled on the weekends – comp time is offered as compensation)

Travel:

  • A vehicle for travel throughout Northern California (San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Joaquin, Marin, Alameda/Contra Costs, Sacramento, and Suisun counties.)  Some out of state travel are necessary.  AADP will reimburse for mileage.
