Volunteering with AADP greatly benefits patients in need of a match. In turn, working with patients touches the lives of volunteers. To highlight this, we are starting a series of volunteer stories, Vision of A Volunteer, where our hardworking helpers have a chance to share how volunteering with AADP has impacted them.

Personally, I was hesitant when I first heard about donating bone marrow. I thought it sounded scary, but then I learned that it’s a simple process and YOU can help someone’s life, so I decided to join the bone marrow registry. Also, I learned that many Asian Americans are unable to find a bone marrow match due to a shortage of them in the registry. At that point, I knew that through outreach we can spread awareness and knowledge to people about what bone marrow donations entail. This inspired me to volunteer with AADP because I felt it is a great organization that addresses the importance of joining the bone marrow registry. A simple donation can save a life!
