Anika

Anika is a bright and vivacious 17-year old Indian American girl. She is an Indian classical dancer, singer, artist, has a black belt in Taekwondo who also loves cooking. Anika’s a senior in high school, currently homeschooling, and very motivated to graduate with her class in June 2020.

Unfortunately, some of Anika’s dreams were shattered when she was diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a rare & severe bone marrow failure disorder in May 2019. She underwent immunosuppressive treatment for 6 months having multiple lung and sinus surgeries from life-threatening infections.  Anika has fought bravely through these six months of hospitalization and still maintains her cheerfulness and positive attitude. Unfortunately, she has only marginally responded to the immunosuppressive treatment and is completely dependent on weekly blood transfusions.

Anika found a stem cell donor and had a transplant in March 202.  Please keep me in your thoughts.

We urge all individuals, especially of Indian origin, to register as a stem cell donor. Please register today in her name at https://join.bethematch.org/Match4Anika
