Georgina, 25, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Sézary’s disease (often called Sézary syndrome). Her particular type of cancer affects the t-cells. Georgina is Mexican American and was searching for a marrow/stem cell match. Her search from a possible match from the Hispanic/Latino community was challenging because the percentage of individuals from Hispanic/Latino background listed on the national registry is less than 1%. If you are from a Hispanic, Spanish, Latino background, please consider registering as a bone marrow donor to help patients in dire need of a life saving match and can have a second chance in life.
