Rifa loves art projects & watching her favorite cartoons just as any other 5 year-old. Rifa is diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), a common type of children’s cancer. The results came to the family as a biggest shock of their lives. From there the long journey started for Rifa and her family with lots of ups and downs, in the form of cancer treatment.
Initial 8 months of chemotherapy went well and Rifa was improving remarkably and reached remission. In March 2014, Rifa went in for routine lab tests and found out her leukemia returned. Rifa needed a transplant right away and was unable to find a matching donor in the current world registries, so her father donated his stem cell to her. Her transplant took place in June 2016.
