On January 10th 2019, Tania was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). She was admitted to a hospital where she started chemotherapy. She’s responded well to treatment, but her leukemia cannot be cured with chemotherapy alone. She needed a stem cell transplant in order to be cured. Tania is South Asian and her matching donor would most likely share the same ethnic background. Her odds of finding a match were difficult because only 1.3% of the Be The Match Registry is South Asian. Help diversify the registry so all patients have an equal opportunity to a transplant.
