Vision of a Volunteer – Sandy

November 13, 2015

Volunteering with AADP greatly benefits patients in need of a match. In turn, working with patients touches the lives of volunteers. To highlight this, we are starting a series of volunteer stories, Vision of A Volunteer, where our hardworking helpers have a chance to share how volunteering with AADP has impacted them.

My sorority and I decided to host a drive on our campus to give back to the community. As a volunteer, my tasks were to educate and inform others the process of becoming a donor. While I was volunteering for AADP, I never knew how much impact it can have towards a patients’ life. Although, chances of finding a right match may be a needle in a haystack chance, I learned it is important to register as many minority donors as possible. To me, volunteering for AADP is one of my proudest involvement. Usually, when I am volunteering there isn’t a lot of interaction but this wasn’t the case. I was able to interact with others and educate them. AADP is about building your networks, spreading awareness to others, educating them, and doing the best to our ablity to help others understand that we can help save a life. I appreciate those who have been involved in this organization for many years now, especially Diana! With Diana’s help, we were able to get a good amount of minority donors to sign up at my first drive! We appreciate everyone’s dedication and hard work with AADP!
