As the last vestiges of winter slowly fade away, we welcome the arrival of spring with open arms. Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation, a time when nature awakens from its long slumber and begins to bloom again. It’s a time when the world seems to come alive with color and fragrance, and we feel a renewed sense of energy and vitality.
The arrival of spring brings with it a host of exciting activities and events. From gardening and hiking to picnics and outdoor concerts, there’s no shortage of things to do and see during this beautiful season. So take a deep breath of the fresh spring air, let the warmth of the sun caress your face, and enjoy all that this wonderful time of year has to offer. Welcome to spring!
Happy 23nd Birthday Luke Do!
This is a very old picture of Luke, but a very happy and important one. In this picture, Luke is meeting his bone marrow donor, Randy Yamanaka, for the first time. Luke is now a thriving 23 year old.
At just 18 months old, Luke was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), his sister Christina Hope was born just 9 days earlier. We thought Luke’s ethnicity would make it very difficult to find a matching donor as he is multi-ethnic, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Irish. However, Sargent Randy Yamanaka was the one person out of almost 5,00,00 listed in the Be The Match registry who was a close enough match for a bone marrow transplant. Luke’s transplant took place in March 2002. Cheers to a life time of good health and happiness!
